Applies to: Nerdio for Azure (NFA) Distributors
Nerdio API allows distributors to create, update, retrieve usage information and generally manage their partner accounts in Nerdio. With the API, distributors can connect their own portals to Nerdio Admin Portal (NAP). A typical user flow would be as follows:
Consider a fictitious distributor called DistiHart, Inc. DistiHart has thousands of customers. Their customers are Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and DistiHart refers to them as partners, not customers.
A partner calls their DistiHart sales rep and says - "I want to buy Nerdio for my customer WidgetHart". The sales rep will log in to their internal DistiHart portal. In the portal the sales rep will see a list of partners. The sales rep will click a button next to the name of partner. When that button is clicked, the portal will make an API call to Nerdio and create a partner under their distributor account in NAP. The partner will be provided their NAP user name and password.
Partner will then log in to NAP and create NFA account(s). Note that the Nerdio API will not support creating NFA accounts via API.
Finally, on a regular scheduled basis, DistiHart's portal will make API calls to Nerdio to retrieve consumption information - how many NFA accounts are under partner, how many desktop users, etc. The portal will display that information and use it for invoicing partners.
This has been said already, but it's important to emphasize that the API is currently geared towards our distributor community only. Nerdio partners or end-users will not find any use for the API.
