How do I create and use on-ramp regions?

Applies to: Nerdio For Azure (NFA)  customers

When a Nerdio virtual IT environment is provisioned, all desktops, servers, etc. are located in a single Azure region. This region is referred to as the primary region. It should be physically closest to the location of the majority of desktop users. On-ramp regions allow users to connect to Nerdio desktops in an Azure region that is closest to their location, instead of the primary region. This is particularly useful for users that are located at a branch office in a different country or continent. To use on-ramp regions you must first enable VPN connections. Note that you will incur additional costs with Azure.

To enable VPN connections:

    1. Log in to Nerdio Admin Portal as Account IT admin or Account admin.
    2. Sign into your NPC or NFA account.
    3. Under "Network" menu option, click "VPN connections"
    4. Move switch "VPN and On-Ramp Regions", to On.VPN_on.png
    5. On the pop-up window, select the option and Click "Confirm" button to turn on VPN connections and on-ramp regions: Confirm_VPN_on.png

      2. Sign into your NFA or NPC account.

      2. Click Users menu.
      3. Locate user and click the user's name to edit the user.
      4. Under Desktops, select the "Place in On-Ramp Region" button.
      5. Select the appropriate Region and click Save.

To put new users in on-ramp region:

    1. Log in to Nerdio Admin Portal as Account IT admin or Account admin.
    2. Click Users menu.
    3. Click button "Add user".
    4. Under Desktops, select the "Place in On-Ramp Region" button.
    5. Select the appropriate Region and click Save.

Note: For an NFA Core account, Nerdio doesn't provision RDS Gateway (RDGW01) on creation of an on-ramp region.
